To give a bit of background on this reading, according to Indian thought, a chakra is a source of spiritual energy in the body. There are thought to be seven in total. The word “chakra” originates from the Sanskrit word for wheel or circle and as I understand it, the seven chakras are generally aligned at the center of your body and span from your lower back (root) to the top of your head (crown). More information about the chakras can be found here:[Chakras: A Beginner’s Guide to the 7 Chakras (healthline.com)
I will be attempting to do some cursory explanation of each chakra and how it functions in the reflection, but my focus is to make sure to interpret the cards here, so please refer to the link if you’re interested in learning more. If you have any comments, concerns or feedback for me on this front, please get in touch. I'm happy to help and clarify where I can.
As noted, this spread is taken from the guidebook to the Steampunk Tarot by Barbara Moore and Aly Fell. I wanted to get a read on how our energies are flowing right now as well as I also wanted explore some of the spreads I have on hand. It really helps that one of my favorite decks is the Steampunk Tarot. Let's dive in and see what the energy is doing generally, and what each specific section has to say.

Alright friend, here we are with this reading. Generally, I am seeing that now is the time to be working on preparing yourself to take action on the things you’re setting aside as goals. The basic message I get here is that you’re being called to remember who you are in the world around you and what it is you want to achieve. In order to really do this well, you need to be standing in your innate power and wisdom and use that to fuel your creativity so you can stand in alignment with your higher self.
I’d like to spend some time getting into each specific chakra if you’ll permit, so to start, let's get into the root chakra. This is generally considered to be the first chakra and is generally associated with safety, foundational aspects of your life, and other associations that make you feel rooted and grounded. Generally, this is located at the base of the spine. For the cards, I am seeing that in order to get rooted again, it’s time to connect as well as you can with your higher light. In order to do this, you’re likely going to have to develop routines that fill your mind, body and soul and allow for you to develop your spiritual discipline.
Next, we’re going to look at the Sacral chakra which is considered to be the second chakra. This is located just about the spot on your spine where the tailbone is and is associated the emotional body, flow, flexibility, and creativity. The cards I got for this section are showing me that there is a need for you to strike a balance between being practical and being spiritual about how you’re doing things. Balancing wisdom and knowledge with how you’re doing things is going to help you quite effectively here, so look at what you have at your disposal at this time and work with what you have here.
The third chakra in line is known as the solar plexus chakra. This is commonly known as the core chakra and is generally located at the center of the body. The solar plexus tends to be associated with a person’s core personality and values. What I’m seeing with the cards for this section is that there is a core (and by this, I mean fundamental) issue that needs to be addressed and potentially cleared out of your space. You’re being asked to settled old and stagnant energies so you can get into the power you know you carry.
The fourth chakra we’re going to look at is the heart chakra. This is generally accepted to be in the center of one’s chest and is thought to be the bridge between one’s earthly and spiritual aspirations. In this way, the heart chakra is driven by compassion, love, beauty, transformation and understanding. With this section, I’m seeing that there is a time of preparation at hand and specifically, this preparation is meant to help you better connect with the greater energies around you during this time.
After this, comes the throat chakra, which is known as the fifth chakra. Generally, this chakra is thought to be the bridge between the lower chakras and the head (crown chakra) Specifically, this chakra is though to be responsible for allowing people to connect with their abilities to communicate and express themselves. The cards here are showing me that you’re being helped along the path to taking action here, because you are being given tools to burn away and eliminate old energies that prevent you from standing in your power.
The next chakra on the list is the third eye chakra and this is known as the sixth chakra. Located between the eyes, this chakra is generally accepted as being responsible for a person’s intuition and sixth sense. it can also be considered responsible for helping a person develop their sense of foresight, open-mindedness and imagination. What I’m seeing here, is that you are using this to rise above challenges and difficulties as well as embody the goals, power and higher self you’ve been trying to tap into. I’m sensing that its working in your favor during this time.
Finally, the last chakra is the crown chakra, which is thought to be located on the very top of just above a person’s head. This is generally accepted as the seventh chakra and its thought to be the center of universal knowledge, spiritualism and a person’s connection to the divine. This chakra is also thought to have influences on the brain and nervous system, emotions and understanding. The cards for this section are showing me that you’ve been listening well, to the messages of the power around you, and what it has been trying to tell you. You’re at the point now where you are now standing in your power, light, intuition and creation.
