Alright, so the animal I’d like to explore today is the canary. Renowned for their singing, these birds are endemic to the Canary Islands (which is a Spanish archipelago off the coast of West Africa) and can be found in the Azores and the Madeira Islands of Portugal. The canary is also part of the finch family. they are known for their singing and thus became popular during the 17th century in Europe. Because of this, extensive captive breeding has resulted in a variety of colors and vocalizations that often aren’t found in wild canaries. They also have a long life and were therefore considered good pets for the aristocratic individual.
These birds are seen as omens of good luck, cheerfulness, and protection (think the phrase “canary in the coal mine here. the Canaries are known for being sensitive birds in this regard). they are also known for being symbols of freedom, light, and even color symbolism can play a part in their symbolism as well and this is due to the captive breeding techniques I talked about earlier. The canary appears in various mythologies as well.
So with all this in mind, let's get to some cards in hand and see what messages we have for you today, shall we?

Canary: sing your own song
9 of Mirrors (cups): in a state of deep peace and emotional well being
the Minstrel (King of Stones [pentacles]): someone capable of understanding their self worth and able to take care of themselves and others
4 of scrolls (swords): rest, recharge, you’re safe to do so
The Corsair (knight of spirals [wands]): someone who takes action and is motivated by their inspirations and passions
The Watcher (queen of mirrors [cups]): nurturing, loving, able to inspire emotional and deep relationships for themselves and others, understanding and loving themselves.
Alright, so what I’m seeing here is that you have a lot of room to yourself right now friend. What I mean here is that you have worked hard to achieve a sense of peace and emotional well being and you have found yourself at a time where rest and taking some time to recharge is a good idea. You’ve had some lessons you’ve picked up on and have needed to integrate into your space, especially where taking action on what motivates and inspires you. And you might not notice this but you have some secret powers that will help you here, those being that you understand your self-worth and ability to take care of yourself and others, but also you are nurturing and deeply loving with yourself and others.
Now you might be asking, Meg, what does all of this even mean for me? Well, my friend, you’ve made space to truly sing out loud and the tune you’re singing is truly beautiful. You have the space to show your inner light and live your unique truths. You may shine a lot of light and love outward to other people so they can feel your love, but don’t forget that you are capable of living in the warmth of your own light as well.
