So today’s flower is the daisy. To begin, the daisy originated in Egypt as a medicinal flower but moving well ahead, the Gerbera daisy, which is the most common type of daisy, was discovered in 1884 in South Africa by a Scottish Man named Robert Jameson. It is found all over Europe and in the temperate regions of Asia. This flower blooms in spring and is actually a broad term that refers to several kinds of plants belonging to the Asteraceae family. Aster is the Latin root word here, and it means star. The other common thought as to the origin of the name is that it comes from the Old English name which translates to “days eye.” In terms of the legends around this flower, the Norse legends have it representing a sacred flower to the Goddess Freya, and to the Romans, the flower represented Vertumnus, the God of the seasons and gardens. He fell in love with Belides and pursued her until she turned herself into a daisy to escape his advances. There are many symbolic meanings according to type, but mostly it represents purity, innocence, beauty, love, fertility, cheerfulness, renewal, joy, playfulness, transformation, chastity, and true love. Interestingly enough, it also represents getting a good night’s sleep, hence where we get the phrase “fresh as a daisy.”

So with all this in mind, let’s get into the cards and see what messages they have for us today.

The Cards

cards pulled from various decks
  • Haiaiel: divine warrior, confounds the wicked, brings victory and peace

  • Haniel: joy, pleasure, brings happiness and removes negative energy

  • 6 of pentacles: giving generously without asking questions

  • 3 of swords: pain, hurt from all over

  • Strength: overcoming base desires, calm and collected

  • Devil: bondage, addiction, what holds you back

  • Ace of wands: an opportunity to see your passions come to love

  • 7 of swords: looking over your shoulder or for a way out, check your motivations

Things are changing for me in the fact that I am letting go of pain and hurt, overcoming base desires, and minding my motives for doing certain things. There are some opportunities coming my way to spark my passions into life because there is so much good, light, and happiness coming to me. I am ready to bring it all in.
