Hello, friend. For today’s animal, we are going to have a look at the dove. Generally, this animal can be found on every continent except Antarctica and makes appearances in cultural folklore and mythologies from around the world such as Mesopotamian folklore (think the Epic of Gilgamesh) and the Bible. Doves also make appearances in Native American, Aztec, Greek, Celtic, Islamic Chinese and Japanese mythologies as well. Humans began to domesticate these birds before written language was developed and they tended to be used as a source of food when it was required. Eventually, they began to be used for sending messages as well which may stem from the fact that these birds are excellent navigators.

Doves tend to be gentle birds in comparison with their hawk and owl counterparts. They are known for displaying affection in the form of grooming their mates and tend to be monogamous with them as well. a pair of mated doves will also share responsibility for incubating their eggs as well as showing a good amount of attention to their young as well.

Symbolically, the dove can represent the ideas of peace, love, devotion, gentleness, purity, and communication in relationships as well.

With that in mind, let's get to some cards and find out what messages you have incoming to your friend. Here we go...

cards pulled from various decks

Dove: Be peace

The Minstrel (King of Stones [coins]): someone who takes care of themselves and others and who knows and understands their worth.

The Lovers: having a choice of head over heart, weighing the pros and cons of a situation as well as the risks and rewards.

Alright so for this reading, I’m seeing that there is a choice needing to be made, and it is one that you’re battling with between your head and your heart. Something seems to be weighing you down in terms of this because you have a choice of whether you’ll stand to gain something or lose something from this choice. If the matter is staying the course and facing this decision, you need to understand your sense of self-worth and know that something will come of the decision you need to make, whether it’s the outcome that best suits your expectation, or whether it’s unexpected and challenging to you. The call to action for you here is to know that you are capable of taking care of yourself and bringing peace into your personal space either way.
