Alright, friendship. Today’s animal is the dragonfly. I’ve always loved the iridescent and beautifully ethereal look of dragonflies and it is one of those animals that aren’t necessarily commonly seen in my area because I live in a big city. But I’d like to deep dive into the symbolism and themes of the dragonfly and see what comes of some cards. So here we go.
One of the biggest themes that stood out to me about the dragonfly is the idea of identity and the symbols of change, transformation, and self-realization. the teachings of having faith in times of difficulty, loving life, and taking time to enjoy the little things are what make this creature an important symbol in many cultures. When one of these creatures shows up in your space, it may signal the ideas of working on your own, adaptability, flexibility, wisdom, maturity, grace, elegance, new beginnings, and the ability to take a deep dive into one’s personhood. The interesting part of the dragonfly is that they tend to be vividly colored when they’re alive but turn transparent or colorless when they die, which is interesting to me because I’ve never heard of another insect that has this happen to them.
So with all that being said, let's get to some cards and see what messages we have from the cards, shall we?

Dragonfly: truth transcends the illusion
sun: light, clarity, peace, growth
3 of spirals (wands): in a state of active waiting, Be patient, your ship will come in
kali (the tower): change, sudden catastrophe, what is falling away is meant to and what is left is for your highest good.
Ma’at (justice): balance, clarity, answering for past actions.
8 of Mirrors (cups): disappointment, turning your back on these, and finding a new field to water
8 of scrolls (swords): feeling held back and trapped in place. The secret here is that you’re not as trapped as you think and can move forward if you so desire. A change in perspective will help here.
Okay, so what I’m seeing here is that you are feeling like you’re in a state of waiting for something to happen. Perhaps you’re anticipating a sudden change of situation or whatever it is you’re unsure of, or perhaps something has happened to you that has made it evident things won’t be the same for you again. The disappointment of this perhaps is leaving you feeling low and sad. The thing is this is an illusion and you need to understand that things will only change if you change the perspective you carry on these issues. This may require a sense of balance and the ability to answer for your part in getting you to where you stand now, but the truth of the matter is that there is a lot of light and clarity waiting on the other side of this anxiety you’re likely feeling. And the better part of this? You’re going to see that the foundation you built your tower on is still strong enough to build something better for yourself.
