Spirit Animal Oracle- Colette Baron Reid and the Chrysalis Tarot by Toney Brooks. Hummingbird research credit:
Alright friends, so today’s animal is the hummingbird. I love humming birds because they’re so often brilliantly colored and vibrant and I was pleased when this card came up in the reading. I found out some interesting things about hummingbirds that I’d like to share with you here and perhaps the reading will reflect the cards I pulled up for us at this time.
Interestingly enough, these birds are seen as powerful symbols of positive energy. For as tiny as they are, these birds pack a heck of a positive punch in that they are vibrantly colored and often considered good omens in many cultures. These lovely little birds are considered pollinators in that they usually feed on the nectar from flowers and distribute any pollen picked up from hummingbirds their feedings to other flowers. They must visit multiple blooms to do this job effectively. Symbolically, these birds generally represent joy, healing, good luck, and other important qualities such as agility, flirtatiousness, variety, and sweetness. They can also be a sign that you may need to shake up your routine, have a bit of light-hearted fun and add a bit of vibrancy to your life. It may also be a sign that it may be time to have a break as well. I get to this because even though the hummingbird likes to be busy and bustling around, they have the ability to slow themselves down when the weather gets cold and temperatures drop.
In this regard, let's get some cards and see what happens for our friendship. I’d like to tap into the positivity our little hummingbird friend holds so we can see how this will benefit us down the line. Here we go.

Hummingbird Spirit: be here now.
The Sojourner (king of mirrors [cups]): someone who is wise, empathetic, and open-minded, able to feel their feelings without being overwhelmed by them.
Herne the Hunter (the Chariot): having the drive and energy to push your power where you want it to go, having a clear path and direction for your goals
Papa Legba (strength): courage and calm control, overcoming base desires ****
Moon: dark, dreams, creativity, fears, ego, not having a clear sight of the path ahead of you just yet
The Illusionist (knight of stones [pentacles]) is someone who takes action on growing the material, financial and spiritual abundances.
Merlin (the hero [fool]): at the start of a new journey, going down the road without knowing what’s coming next, not going it alone.
Wheel of Fortune: cycles, movement, what is up will come down and vice versa
2 of stones (pentacles): juggling, facing a choice, and having the ability to navigate choppy waters.
Ravens (the magician): having everything you need to make your magic.
Alright, so what I’m seeing here is that there is a new journey at the start for you here friend and this is perhaps drawing out some fears, hesitation, and self-doubt in you. I think what will be best for you to consider here is channeling your inner hummingbird and drawing on the positive energy we talked about in the introduction to this post. The thing you already know is that there are changes afoot in your space and you’re having to juggle things right now, especially because you’re starting something new for yourself. The thing about yourself that you’re not giving yourself enough credit for is the fact that you have the drive and energy to push yourself forward and do the dang thing. Even with all the chaos that seems to be around you, you have a calmness about you and a deep-seated empathy that makes it easy for you to connect with others who may be experiencing the same issues as you do. It’s time to perhaps turn some of that to your own heart and make sure that you can exercise some of that courage and calm strength in yourself. The thing love is that you have magic in spades and you’re absolutely able to make the most of this time. The call to you now is to be present and be aware.
