Deck used is the Urban Tarot by Robin Scott

So what’s it like for me to be me? I can say for certain that things can get a bit interesting with me… I’ve been described as a “girl of my own kind” before and the people who have said that about me (mostly it was my parents) aren’t wrong at all. Truthfully, it used to make me mad when I’d get called that. Now I’ll wear the title as a badge of honor. The hope in this is that you’ll see the person I am through this spread, and hopefully, you’ll understand the world through my eyes.

The Cards

from the Urban Tarot by Robin Scott

6 of swords This card stands for truth and the triumph of intellect over ignorance. We are using our rational minds to create a better world for those around us. However, this has come with sacrifices aplenty and though there has been progress made, it has come with setting aside personal gains for the greater good of being objective. Sometimes, doing things that matter requires removing ourselves from the equation.

Knight of cups: this character is a mix of opposites. They are a mix of passion and emotion, being that they are sensitive and creative, while also unpredictable and somewhat dangerous. Their passionate fire may burn bright and hot but may be snuffed out at a moment’s notice. If you are personally dealing with someone who is like this, please be advised that while the Knight of Cups may feel genuine compassion, this often runs a bit deeper than you may be able to see on the surface.

Queen of cups: This character is the emotional center, the one who accepts and receives without judgement and is affectionate and comforting. We can find an air of calm reflection and introspection with this character and she holds a mirror to our inner selves. This makes her hard to read because when we look into her depths, she simply reflects our personhood back at us, but we can be guaranteed a stable and sincere person to help us in our time of need.

The Sun: this is life, hope and clarity. Here we see things as they truly are for what they are. We have come through a period of fear and darkness to a time of light and revelation. Sometimes, things don’t need worrying over; it just makes us ill if we do it too often for too long. The best thing we can try to do for ourselves and take some time outside and enjoy the sunshine. The world can wait until we’re ready to come back to it.

Prince of wands: The character of this card speaks to the idea of intellect in the context of passion. There is something noble about this trickster and while they walk the fine line between being playful and teasing, they sometimes have the ability to speak more powerfully than one might expect. In this regard, we shouldn’t ignore what they have to say, even if it satirizes those in positions above them.

7 of wands: this card represents the one voice that just won’t quiet down, the person that champions the hopeless cause, the person on the soapbox that raises his voice louder than we’d like to listen to. It represents protest and is infused with all the fire of passion, strength and courage that is typical of the suit of wands.

Right away I notice there’s a lot of fire and a lot of emotion in this reading; I’m getting here because cups are associated with water and the wands are associated with fire. I know this to be true of myself because deep down, I feel a lot of things very keenly. This often creates a lot of fire in me and the energy I sometimes feel from this helps me to create and make things in my physical reality. What I do come up against is the fact that sometimes, people see me as stubborn… there are some things I just won’t give up on, and I need to be aware that these moments can either work to help or hinder me. Individually, I see a lot of hope, love and acceptance coupled with intellect, practicality and objectivity. These are qualities that will carry on after I leave this world, and hopefully, I’ll have made it a little better for those who come after me.
