Art and deck credits go to Brigit Esselmont. Deck is the Everyday Tarot

It’s been a long road coming out of last year. 2019 saw a lot of change for me and it was hugely scary to face. I had a job, lost said job, experienced a painful loss of a dearly loved soul, and found myself having to start over. I’m not going to lie and say it wasn’t my fault for this happening. Some bad choices I made and the fact that I fell back on some negative coping mechanisms really affected me by putting me in a bad place mentally and emotionally. I really had to struggle to get myself in a better place. In past readings before all of these things, I kept seeing the Tower, the 5 and 8 of Cups and The Wheel of Fortune come up in my readings. I tried not to be too anxious over these cards, but I was deaf to the messages at that time. They were telling me things were going to change, and drastically so. Little did I know what these changes were leading me to…

The Cards

from The Everyday Tarot by Bridgit Esselmont

4 of Swords: you have reached your first milestone and now you need to sit back, rest and recharge your energy. The next phase in your journey is about to begin so take a break, clear your mind and meditate before making your next moves.

2 of swords: you have some challenging decisions to make; you are at a metaphorical fork in the road and are unsure of which direction to take. It’s best to look closer at your options because you might be missing some information that will help you make the right choice.

3 of cups: Celebrate your successes with your closest friends and family. You’ve worked hard in collaboration with others on a creative project and it’s time to do so again to inspire each other to reach new heights.

8 of swords: you feel trapped right now whether it’s in a undesirable situation, a cycle of negative self- talk… whatever the situation is, you feel you can’t escape and you feel you have few choices at your disposal. The thing here is that your bonds are loose and if you change your thoughts, you can change your situation.

The Emperor: here, you are establishing structures and foundations from which success will grow and flourish for you. You’re in favor of stability and certainty over flexibility and change but you are disciplined enough to see your plans though.

2 of wands: So you know what you want to make manifest in your life. The thing is, you need to figure out how. At this time, you are exploring your options and planning a way forward. Using your intuition and passion is helpful here because it is helping you plan your next steps.

3 of pentacles: You are collaborating with others and creating the energies around you to gain big results. The nice thing here is that you have to ability to balance the wisdom of the experts with the new ideas of the novices to create these results.

In this case, a new beginning is just what the doctor ordered. I have had to work really hard for this, but now that I’ve reached a new milestone in this life, I can take a break and enjoy life for a bit before moving on. Sometimes, there will be challenging decisions to me made and I will have to follow the facts to understand the best course of action for me. At the end of this road is a time to celebrate with close and trusted friends, but down the line, there will be times where I feel trapped by thoughts, situations, feelings, whatever the things may be. In these times, I need to know that I have the power to get myself out of said situation by changing how I think and what I do. By establishing structures and foundations in my life, I will see success grow and flourish for myself. While I appreciate the stability and security that can come from this, I know that I have the discipline to see my plans through and manifest my desires in this reality. I also know that collaborating with others, exploring all my options and using my intuition and passions will be helpful here as well.
