Deck used is the Urban Tarot by Robin Scott

A lot of this reading for me, is about waking up and facing the world of the waking, rather than lingering in the world of dreams. I am in a place where I have been working hard to make sure I have what it takes to get the energetic and spiritual support I need to make it through, but sometimes, illusions and other fantasies keep popping up in my head. While I know these are just dreams that won’t last, I need to acknowledge when to indulge them and when to let them go.

The Cards

from the Urban Tarot by Robin Scott

Strength: This card represents the idea of overcoming the worst parts of life. When it throws a curve ball at us, we can either wilt away, or stand and fight. It takes a good deal of courage and fortitude to face what scares us, and this is represented by the gentle force we use to overcome the ferocity we are faced with sometimes. It acknowledges that we have deeper impulses that can sometimes get out of control, but we have the ability to make them work for us not the other way around

6 of disks: This card represents the idea of success, not just in the form of retaining the resources to take care of yourself, but also to take care of those with less than you. It’s the kind of success that moves us into stability and comfort. This is more than having enough to take care of ourselves. it’s about that and the ability to take care of others in the process.

The High Priestess: This card stands in contrast to The Mage in that the character of this card is concerned with receiving and understanding of messages the world at large wants us to have. They are the Yin to the Mage’s Yang and they make their magic through intuition rather than force of will. They are the ones urging us to go deeper and accept the mysteries and wisdom that comes from trusting in, and exploring yourself and who you are.

3 of disks: this card speaks of the efforts, concentration and time it takes to commit yourself to your labors. It is the single mindedness and the force of will it takes to get through the first stages of inspiration. Now it’s time to lace up the boots, get your team together and get going on next stages of your project.

So with this spread, I wanted to know when to let my dreams run wild and when to wake up and face the world of the waking. In this regard, I need to let the past difficulties I faced, be in the past. It will do me no good to keep rehashing them and keep them fresh in mind. Doing this will turn my eyes away from the idea that I can be successful enough to take care of myself and not only that, but the people I deeply and truly care for. Sometimes, the world has messages for me that I need to hear and internalize. Other times, I need to leave these messages for another time and make sure that I am working on making my projects the best they can be with the resources and materials available to me. Sometimes, these things are easier said than done, but I am nothing if not determined to do the work required to make the dream happen.
