So for the last reading of the month, I’ve decided to close out the month with Sleeping Beauty. I remember watching this as a young child and feeling quite nervous because of how the movie was animated. I didn’t quite understand the plot or how things were working, simply because I was so young but I began appreciating more about the way the story and the animation Disney did for it worked together.

The story of Sleeping Beauty tells of a young princess, forced to live in secret because of a curse placed on her by a malicious fairy. The only way to break the curse is to receive true love’s kiss from a prince and this will wake the princess out of a sleep induced by pricking her finger on a poisoned spindle. After 16 years, the princess is returned to the castle, only for the curse to be fulfilled. The movie was released in 1959 and stars Mary Costa, Bill Shirley, and Elanor Audley.

Cards

cards pulled from various decks

What is it about my situation that I have been asleep and to which I have had my eyes closed?

  • 3 of wands: in a state of active waiting. Be patient, your ship will come in soon.

  • The Emperor: making order out of chaos, father figure

How can I wake myself up and gain an understanding of this situation?

  • Queen of Swords: smart, observant, nurturing, protective,

  • Ace of Pots (cups): an opportunity comes in to grow emotionally and spiritually.

In the times I’ve been snubbed, how can I best channel and transmute the negative energy I may be feeling in this situation

  • 2 of wands: hesitation over a decision, do I stay or go? The world out there waits for you.

  • 10 of Pots (cups): love, peace, satiety, emotional overflow, having what you need to maintain a healthy home and happy family

Pink or blue: what choices am I facing at this time that need to be fully understood?

  • King of wands: someone who is able to inspire and move people to take action on their passions and inspirations

  • 6 of junk (coins): in a place of giving and receiving in equal measure, reciprocity, balance

Spindle: what are the dangers of my situation that I’m not seeing in full at this time?

  • The Tower: sudden change and disaster, catastrophe, there’s value in the rubble

  • Page of pots (cups): someone who takes lessons learned and applies them to their emotional and spiritual growth

Draw a few cards to thank the decks for their work this month. Thank you for the things I’ve needed to see this month.

  • King of Coins: someone who knows their worth, who is motivated by and understands their material and financial abundances.

  • 2 of Junk: juggling, navigating rough waters, having a lot on your plate, and doing the best you can with it.

Okay so it’s the end of the month and we’ve gone through a lot. What I’m seeing for this reading is that I am still in a space of active waiting. It’s not my time to take action just yet because there are still a lot of things I need to get in order for myself. I think this makes sense because I have several goals for myself in the coming five years that I want to take care of before moving on and in order to do these things, I need to be smart and observant of how I’m feeling but also aware that I can use these to my advantage because there are still choices I’m hesitating to make. Ultimately, I want my goal to be that I’ve achieved peace, satiety, and the ability to maintain a happy and healthy home and family life. If the choice I have is to be a generous and open-hearted person who motivates people to move on to their passions and inspiration, then I need to know that I can do the same thing for myself when things get hard. There are lessons to the catastrophe and disaster, and I need to be aware of this so I can really make the most of my energy and step into my power moving forward. The final message of this reading seems to be showing me that I have become someone who understands their self-worth and motives as well as my ability to navigate the world around me.
