Decks used: Labyrinth Tarot by Minerva Siegel and the Movie Tarot by Diana McMahon Collis

Okay friends, so once again, I am including all three movies in my synopsis and introduction. Links to the individual IMDB pages are included in the research credits and I will be doing my best to encompass the feel and tone of each movie in the cards that I pull. Please note that I have done my best, so if you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please let me know. I realize I have glossed over a lot of details but I’m not about spoiling the movies for you so please consider watching them, or at least reading the IMDb pages for each. They’re included in the research credit above.

Alright so with this series, we start off being introduced to a reluctant and reclusive hobbit named Bilbo Baggins. This series was directed by Peter Jackson and in The Unexpected Journey, released in 2012, we see how he is slowly called out of his comfort zone to help a team of dwarves retrieve lost and stolen treasure they feel is rightfully theirs. In Desolation of Smaug (2013), we can see how Bilbo’s story progresses and we also see the consequences of actions taken by the others on the journey with him, and finally, in the Battle of Five Armies (2014), we can finally see the effects of the entire story on the company Bilbo is a part of, as well as that outside of it. Everyone is fighting to keep the gathering darkness at bay, but will they succeed?

Cards

cards pulled from various decks

I’m going on an adventure, but I am reluctant to leave my comfort zone. What do I need to see that is holding me back in my hobbit hole (comfort zone)?

  • 2 of cups: Harmony, peace, balance, union, blending of two energies

  • King of junk: generous, open, able to understand their wealth and how to distribute it generously and safely

How can I honor, accept and integrate this energy so I can partake in the adventure I am being asked to go on?

  • Knight of swords: someone who is able to take action on their mental and intellectual pursuits

  • 10 of feathers (swords): ending, finality, closure, painful betrayal, the final card has been played

What preconceived notions do I need to let go of in order to fill the role I’m being asked to fill within my support system?

  • Wheel of Fortune: cycles, what is up will come down and vice versa, all things in their time

  • Ace of Junk (pentacles): an opportunity comes in to grow your wealth, material, and financial abundances

what/who’s motivations do I need to be aware of and watch out for?

  • Ace of Swords: an opportunity comes in to pursue your mental and intellectual projects and a new way of thinking

  • Ace of Poles (wands): a new opportunity comes into pursuing your passions and inspirations

This is what I believe is worth fighting for but…

  • 9 of wands: endurance, perseverance, standing tall in the face of the storm and in spite of exhaustion

  • Temperance: balance, peace, in a place of giving and receiving in equal measure

This is what I stand to lose in the process of this fight.

  • Knight of wands: someone who takes action on pursuing their passions and inspirations

  • 9 of poles (wands): endurance, perseverance, standing tall in the face of the storm and in spite of exhausting situations.

Alright friends, so with this one, there’s a lot of interesting ideas I’m seeing here. I’m going to do my best to include them all, but it’s going to be a lot. The first thing I’m seeing here is that you’re starting a new adventure and that it’s perhaps causing you some conflict because you’re unsure of what’s beyond your comfort zone. At this time, perhaps it’s best to be generous and open-hearted with yourself because frankly, it’s going to take some work to get yourself out of your rut. What I’m seeing here is that you’re anticipating the challenges you're facing to be insurmountable, but have you gone through something like this before? No? Then how can you know what will happen next? The trick with this is that you’re not going alone, and you’ll be asked to begin by unionizing and harmonizing coming into your space at this time. Integrating this energy into your space will require you to be someone who takes action in understanding the thoughts coming to you but also acknowledging when situations end and people leave. It won’t do you any good to hold onto things when they’ve gone or ended, especially because this journey is requiring you to make forward progress. All things come and go, especially people and things, so balancing your emotions and thoughts will help you here as well.

Another thing that may help you, in this case, is to be observant of the people around you because there maybe someone in your space who has the mental inspiration and the emotional passion to make things happen, but perhaps this is at the expense of prudence or complete understanding of the situation at hand. This situation might be something worth fighting for, especially because you believe so strongly about it, however, endurance and balance are still your best assets, even if you stand to lose some of it along the journey you’re making.
