Art and deck credits go to Brigit Esselmont. Deck is the Everyday Tarot

I don’t think I need to keep saying that this year has been a wild one. I can see how it might be hard for people to take a moment to sit back and reflect, but now is the best time to do just that. Given that we’re spending a lot more time at home with some of us having nothing much to do, it’s best to breathe, take a break and look at what we’ve been learning for ourselves. For me, it’s been a definite learning experience and I’d like to share that with you here. Buckle of up friendship. This is going to be a long one…

The Cards

From the Everyday Tarot by Bridgit Esselmont

Ace of Pentacles: A new opportunity is available to you that has the potential to grow and become lucrative. This may be a job, a new business venture or financial opportunity. Whatever it is, it’s time to manifest this into your reality in a very real way.

8 of Cups: it's time to move on from a situation you thought would work. It's okay to let go because you will find a better and more aligned path.

8 of Pentacles: you leverage your skills and determination to get a job done. Your hard work, determination and attention to detail lead the way towards your mastery of your given job.

Justice: You understand cause and effect and that your choices have consequences. You’re ability to find balance and equality in a situation helps you find the fairest outcome for all.

6 of wands: you are feeling confident, self- assured and successful. You are genuinely proud of your achievements and are ready to shout them out. People around you recognize these things and are cheering you on.

9 of pentacles: you have created your abundance, now it’s time to enjoy the fruits of your labors. Don’t be afraid to treat yourself because you deserve it but also don’t be afraid to set some of this aside for your long term financial independence long term.

4 of pentacles: you are very financially conscious and watching your expenses however, money works best in a state of flow. It’s alright to be careful with your money, but don’t be so stingy that you do nothing with it.

8 of cups: it’s time to walk away from a disappointing situation or relationship. While you desperately wanted for it to work out, it hasn’t and the only option you have is to move on with life and let go.

The chariot: you are a driving force full of determination and willpower. You’ll stop at nothing to achieve your goals and successes and you overcome obstacles to find cohesion between opposing forces.

6 of pentacles: you are feeling generous and ready to share your abundance with others. You might find yourself on the receiving end of things in this area. In either case, give abundantly, accept the gifts coming to you with gratitude and you will see returns in threefold.

King of swords: you are in your power and you rule from a place of authority. You’re analytical ability and intellectual sides help you assess situations you find yourself in and help you make clear decisions on what you know to be the truth.

8 of swords: you feel trapped by your situation and you believe you’re really stuck. The thing is, your bonds are loose and you can get out if you change your thoughts about your situation. A victim mentality won’t serve you here.

2 of wands: you know what you want to make manifest in your reality. Now it’s figuring out how to do it. The best thing right now is for you to explore your options and plan the path ahead before taking action. Your best assets to help you with this task are your intuition and your passion.

What a year eh? In the last 6 months, there have been new opportunities for me to stretch and learn as well as to apply those lessons to get the job done. I’ve had to learn the power of action and consequence because there were mistakes made on my part last year that needed reconciling but I’ve come from those lessons a stronger and more resilient person. I’ve shown a lot of confidence and self-assuredness and am really happy with where things are in my life at this time (in spite of the challenges I’ve been facing with the world being the way it is right now…) and have come to recognize that the support system I have around me really is supportive of me. In terms of my abundance and stability here, I have worked hard to create it for myself but being protective and conscious of it only serves me so much. I need to understand that abundance (whatever the form) works best in flow. Giving it will help you receive it and this is something I need to keep in mind.

Another lesson learned for me is the idea of having the power to walk away from undesired situations. I know things don’t always turn out like I anticipated and sometimes, it’s better to just eat crow and walk away from things. Having the power and determination to let go is a valuable asset, especially when a situation you hoped for isn’t going to work out. It might be scary to move on, but deep down, the power to do so might be stronger than you think. Even better than that is the idea that once you make space in your life and your energy, there will be the opportunity to give and receive healthy energies and to make clear decisions about where to go next. I find I resonate with this lesson quite strongly because on one hand, having the job I had the year prior was good and I enjoyed the idea of helping people. But I quickly noticed a lot of things happening to me (and because of me) that weren’t good and I had to move on, no question about it. While I gave of myself, I had to eventually move on (perhaps sooner than I anticipated). Because of this, I felt trapped and scared, but those bonds I put myself in were of my own making. I had the power to get out of those ties, to create my own magic and make the dreams I wanted to see in my life manifest in my reality. Am I all the way there yet? I don’t think so, but I’m not mad about that. Life is a journey and I’m not done just yet.
