So I’ve been talking with my father as he’s been doing a lot of research into my ancestry and where I come from. Generally, I’m finding our discussions so fascinating because now, I have a better idea of where my family comes from and I’m thoroughly fascinated with how my family lived and worked. I’ve come to find out so much from these conversations, to the point that I keep wondering what they’d say to me if they could. I pulled some cards to get the message across and I’m excited about the message.

The Cards
The Chariot: travel, progress, conquest
Queen of Cups: intuitive, devoted, emotions
7 of Hazards: patience, gain, progress
3 of Hazards: recognition, hard work, skill
4 of Hazards:selfishness, hoarding, possessiveness
Knight of Hazards: ambitious, material possessions, entrepreneur
The wheel of fortune: Luck, fate, destiny
The star: recognition, inspiration, achievements
With this reading, I’m finding that the ancestor that comes through quite strongly is my ancestor Jean Nicolette. Very basically, he was an explorer, interpreter and business owner that came from France to the areas we now know as Lake Michigan, Mackinac Island and Green Bay Wisconsin. It was also known that he lived among the First Nations peoples to learn their language and become an interpreter for the company he worked for. I’ve linked an article I’ve found on him at the beginning of the post so you can read up on his story if you’d like. The reason I mention him is because right off the bat, I pulled The Chariot as my first card. Nicolette was an explorer and a traveler and even, once he settled down, a store owner. I can only imagine what kind of skill and patience it took to do what he did, but I do find it EXTREMELY empowering that he knew what was on his heart, the skills he possessed and that he used it for such an incredible purpose. If Monsieur Nicolette could do all of what he did, so can I. SO CAN I. It’s knowing that people like Jean Nicolette existed and did such incredible things has given me the shot in the arm to forge my own path and be ambitious in what I want to do with my life.
I do need to be careful of certain things, especially when it comes to being miserly with my possessions and what I have to share. The things I shore up in this world aren’t going to come with me when I leave it so what am I hanging onto them for? I can use what I have on my heart and hone my skills to share the messages that come through to me. I know I’m ambitious and able and I feel this is how I’m honoring my ancestor’s legacy. But I need to let fate do some of it’s work for me too, because what will be will be. There will be moments of recognition and celebrating the achievements I’ve made for myself but in the meantime of that, I need to do the work to get myself to that point.
Thank you for showing me who you are to my family Monsieur Nicolette. I hope I can make you proud.
Blessed be.
